OLE K. WANGEN, 95, formerly of 203 E. Truman Ave., died Tuesday, April 15, 1997 at The Clairemont. He was born November 14, 1901 in Freeborn County near Austin, Minnesota to Knud and Randine (Bagaason) Wangen. He grew up near Albert Lea,MN, and graduated from Luther Academy High School. Ole married Nettie Lostegaard in Austin on December 4, 1933. They lived in Lanesboro,MN, where they owned and operated a grocery store until moving to Eau Claire in 1947, where he was employed at Sears Roebuck for over 20 years. He was a 50 year member of First Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, and a life member of the Sons of Norway Loven Lodge #29, serving as treasurer for many years.\r\nSurvivors include two daughters, Jean Albrecht (George) of St. Paul and Sandra Johnson (Tom) of Mt. Prospect,IL; a son, Warren (Vonnie) of Eau Claire; son-in-law, Roman Fritz (Diane) of Eau Claire; 12 grandchildren, Tim and Mike Fritz, Anne Drake, Jennifer Albrecht, Lisa Roberts, Cindy Webb, Kim Perlich, Brenda Gill, Mark Heuer, Tia, Scott and Kirk Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren, Daniel Fritz, Brett Heuer, Bryan Phillippi, Heather Gill and Briana Jones; many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nettie; a daughter, Vonnie Fritz; a sister, Myrtle Medd; two brothers, Carl and Charles Wangen. \r\nOle will be remembered for his kind word to everyone, his artwork, and his love of plants and flowers, especially his tuberous begonias.\r\nFuneral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeanne L. Warner officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to First Lutheran Church.
