Oreen C. (Wold) Migawa, 89, of Eau Claire passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Dove Healthcare where she resided since March 2002, after having a stroke.\r\nShe was born on September 20, 1913 in Leeds, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Emma (Larson) Wold. Oreen married Thaddeus Migawa on June 15, 1940 at St. Patrick's Church in Eau Claire.\r\nOreen was a resident of Eau Claire since 1917. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1931. She attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where she earned a teaching degree in 1934, a B.S.(Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education) in 1964, and a MST (Master of Science in Teaching) in 1974. She was a life long educator and cherished her hours in the classroom.\r\nFrom 1934 to 1940 she taught in the Eau Claire area, and especially had fond memories of her first teaching job in Colfax. Oreen took time off to raise her family and returned to teaching in 1952. From 1952-54 Oreen was a home-bound teacher to children that could not attend regular school. From 1954 to 1969 she taught at St. James the Greater grade school, St. Olaf's grade school, Sacred Heart grade school and 11 years at Eau Claire Academy. She retired in 1969 and often said, leaving the classroom was the saddest day of her life. Oreen maintained an extensive library, which included many children's books. She also was an avid doll collector.\r\nOreen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thaddeus; her children, Josette (Dennis Vanden Bloomen) Migawa and Janelle Sanders both of Eau Claire; and Mark of Menomonie; six grandchildren, Cole, Emerald and Chelsea Migawa of Menomonie, Heidi Sanders of Eau Claire and Harold "JR" Sanders of Minneapolis, and Gretchen Vanden Bloomen of Eau Claire; one great grandson, Ethan Sanders; a sister, Esther (Helmer) Olson and two brothers, Gordon and Roger Wold all of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Spencer Wold; and two sisters, Fern Yarnall and Alta Marczinke.\r\nFuneral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2002 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
