Obituary

Orrin "Pug" N. Grambo, 80, of Eau Claire, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at his home. He was born on August 22, 1924, in New Folden, Minnesota, the son of Otto and Norma (Eide) Grambo. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and spent his childhood in Winger, MN. \r\nOrrin graduated from McIntosh High School in McIntosh, MN in 1942. Following high school he worked in the shipyards in Tacoma, WA, before entering the U.S. Army in June 1943. He proudly served in Central Europe, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge with Company C under General George Patten, and was honorably discharged in April 1946.\r\nHe attended Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis graduating in 1949. He worked as an accountant and then began his sales career in the oil business in 1950. Orrin was promoted to territory manager, moving to Rhinelander, WI, in 1950. He transferred to Eau Claire with City Service Oil Co, in 1953, and it was there he met his future wife of 50 years, Avis E. Hegge. Orrin and Avis were married at French Creek Lutheran Church in Ettrick, WI on July 9, 1955.\r\nOrrin worked 40 years for Gopher Oil Co., now known as Lubetech until his retirement in 1996. After retirement he worked as a consultant with Lubetech, and was currently in sales and management with Badger Oil Company in Eau Claire.\r\nHe enjoyed many years as an avid golfer with friends and family at Hillcrest Country Club. As a man of faith, Orrin provided unending support and love for his wife, children and their families, and thrived on sharing in their lives.\r\nSurvivors include his wife Avis; three children, Jody (John) Nelson of Nashua, NH, Tammy (Brian) Stencel of Portland, OR, and Michael (Ashleigh) Grambo of Chicago; five grandchildren, Jacob Nelson, Mitchell and Kyle Stencel, and Natalie and Max Grambo; two sisters, Irene Sannes of McIntosh, MN, and JoAnn Pope of Roseville, CA; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nOrrin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Polly Loken.\r\nFuneral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary L. Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington where VFW Post #305 will conduct military rites. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington, Eau Claire, WI, 54701 or to the donor's choice. \r\n
