Ovila M. Nelson, 92, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Dove Healthcare South in Eau Claire. She was born on September 16, 1921, in Colfax to William and Myrtle (Larson) Moen. She grew up in Running Valley and graduated from Colfax High School. On August 7, 1944, Ovila married Marvin Nelson in Madison, WI. Together, they made Eau Claire their home and have lived in the same house for 65 years. She was a long time member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events and spending quality time with her family. Ovila is survived by her children, Dennis (Sharon) Nelson, Dale (Ortence) of Milton, FL and Deborah (David) Sather of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Chad (Lisa) Nelson, Adam Nelson, April (Ramon) Bauza, Laura Nelson, Chris (Mary) Sather, Tim (Bethany) Sather and Becky (Al) Kiekhoefer; 3 great grandchildren, Talia Kiekhoefer, Lilly Bauza and Ovila Nelson; three sisters, Doris Rosenberg, Leila Stoll, and Mary (Art) Loew; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Anley, Oscar, Elmer and Bill; and two sisters, Irene and Elaine. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
