Patricia A. (Thompson) Schlewitz, 88 of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 17. Patricia was born Oct. 2, 1937 to Harold and Abigail (Larson) Thompson of Eau Claire. Abigail and Harold also had four other children, Yvonne, Barbara, Larry and Gary who passed away in infancy. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior high school in 1956. After graduating, in 1957, she married Arthur James "Jim" Schlewitz, son of Arthur and Mabel (Larson) Schlewitz. The following year, Patricia and James welcomed twin babies Daniel James and Debra Jean. Patricia was also a very proud grandmother of four grandchildren; Daniel, Alexa and Elizabeth "Libby" and Rebecca.
Patricia worked for the Eau Claire Board of Education for many decades. She spent many hours within the classroom with students and also with in the office with staff. She greatly enjoyed her time working for the ECSD and the relationships she developed. After retiring, Patricia enjoyed time with her grandchildren, time with family, playing cards, going to live music in the Eau Claire area. Patricia, was very much appreciative of the small things like a car ride in the country, a beautiful sunset and a good laugh. She was also a proud supporter of North High School.
Patricia is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Tom) Hanson; her four grandchildren, Dan Hanson, Alexa and Elizabeth Schlewitz and Rebecca (Derek) Biggs; sister, Yvonne "Vonnie" Sorenson; sister-in-law, Jeanne Thompson and other nieces and nephews.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Abigail; husband, Jim in 2016; son, Daniel in 2020; brothers Larry and Gary Thompson; sister, Barbara "Bobbi" Christenson; brothers-in-law, Earl "Chris" Christenson, Roger Sorenson and Ronald Schlewitz and nephews, Gary Thompson and Steve Christenson.
A special thank you to the anti-coagulation team at Mayo Hospital where she spent a great deal of time at the end. They played in integral part in her health for many years of her life.
A funeral service will be at 11:00am on Friday, April 3, 2026 at WEST CHAPEL Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., with Pastor Tim Mor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association, Feed My People or Bob's House for dogs.
