PATRICK A. HARDY, 45, of Eau Claire died Sunday, February 22, 1998 at home, after a valiant battle with melanoma. He was born January 31, 1953 to Sally (Archer) and George Hardy in Richland Center,WI. Pat was raised in Whitefish Bay, WI. He married Barbara Lavik on August 3, 1974 in Eau Claire, and graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1975.\r\nPat worked in sales and advertising for many years. He was an agent with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. since 1989. He was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and an active community leader. He was a past president of the Eau Claire Noon Lions Club and received the 1998 Melvin Jones Award for outstanding service to the Lions. Pat served as a member of the local advisory board of Children's Service Society of Wisconsin, had been chairperson, and was recipient of the 1996 Service to Children Award. He also served as chairperson for the Chippewa Valley Community Prayer Breakfast. Pat was a member of Eau Claire Lodge #112 F&AM, and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire, where he was presently top officer in the Eau Claire Lodge of Perfection. He received the honor of having the 1998 Fall Scottish Rite Class named the Patrick A. Hardy, 32nd Degree Class.\r\nPat had a passionate love of golf, and enjoyed scuba diving, bow hunting , camping and travel. He was affectionately known as " the man with the bow tie. "\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Barbara; a son, Daniel of Hirakata City, Japan; his parents of Mequon; a brother, Mark of Wheaton,IL; and father-in-law, Harold Lavik of Minocqua.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery.Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.\r\nThe family suggests memorials be sent to the Melanoma Research Foundation, P.O.
