Patrick D. Heaviland, 66, of Eau Claire died Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona following an 18 month battle with brain cancer.\r\nHe was born on July 29, 1943, in Valparaiso, IN a son of Leon and Norma (Johnson) Heaviland. \r\nPat graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1961. He attended University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Chippewa Valley Technical College, and New Richmond Technical College.\r\nPat was a member of Community of Christ Church in Eau Claire. \r\nThroughout his life, Pat worked at National Presto Industries, Nestle Foods, and V&L Furniture Store. Most recently, Pat worked as a forklift operator at Menard's Distribution Center in Eau Claire from 1991 to 2008. \r\nAmong Pat's many hobbies were photography, gardening, wood-working, and following the stock market. Pat was also an avid Harley Davidson biker.\r\nPat is survived by his mother, Norma Heaviland of Eau Claire; sister, Janet (Warren) Harden of Shirley, IL; brothers Victor (Jan Marie) Heaviland and Larry (Dawn) Heaviland, both of Eau Claire; two nephews, Trevor and Trent Heaviland both of Eau Claire; and by many special cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his father, Leon.\r\nMemorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave, Eau Claire with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Private family burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services at the funeral home.\r\nMemorial are preferred to Luther Midelfort Clinical Research Dept., 1400 Bellinger St., Eau Claire, WI 54702, or a charity of the donors choice.\r\nA memorial bike ride in Pat's honor will be held this coming summer in Eau Claire.
