Obituary

Patrick A. Lekvin, 65, of Eau Claire, died on Sunday, November 13, 2011 surrounded by his family at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on March 17, 1946 in Eau Claire to Thomas and Eleanor (Carey) Lekvin. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church, where he was a lifelong member. At the age of 15, he began working in the office of his father's business, Osterman Transfer Company, and when he turned 16, his father handed him the keys to a truck and told him to go make a delivery, thus beginning his more than 30 year career in the trucking industry, retiring at the age of 48. After graduating from North High School in 1964, he attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Patrick married his high school sweetheart, Janice (LaPage) Lekvin on July 1, 1966, and together they built a life that was filled with love, laughter and many wonderful times with their four sons. Patrick enjoyed the simple pleasures of everyday life, from working in the yard to visiting with his family; he never took one day for granted and lived each day to its fullest. Being a jack of all trades, Patrick was always first to lend a helping hand. He had a deep joy for music that he instilled in his children and often times served as a soundtrack to his life. Patrick also liked spending time reading, exercising and cooking - something at which he was quite exceptional. He was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. It was his family, however, that was always his first priority and most proud achievement. He was a compassionate and caring husband, dad and grandpa, who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jacklyn Borthwick. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janice; and four sons, Bradley, Paul (Sheri), James (Dana), Jeffrey (Lisa); grandchildren, Kole, Colin and Hailey; step-grandchildren, Brandon and Marena; sisters, Jane Welke of Green Lake, WI, and Zoe McAllen of Eau Claire; brothers, Thomas F. of Altoona, Brent of Houghton, MI and many nieces and nephews. Per Patrick's request, there will only be a graveside service. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Eau Claire. Pastor Eric Nielsen will officiate. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family. The family would like to thank Dr. David Schifeling as well as the 2nd floor Oncology Department and Critical Care Unit nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital for their special care of Patrick. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
