Obituary

Paul Irwin Barnes, 94, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Luther Hospital.\r\nHe was born in the Town of Lima, WI on July 1, 1912, the son of Newman and Elizabeth (Talford) Barnes. He grew up and attended school in Durand until the family moved to Eau Claire when he was junior in high school. Paul graduated from Eau Claire Senior High. \r\nPaul married Olga J. Hanson on December 19, 1936, in Eau Claire. She passed away May 29, 1980.\r\nHe worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 45 years retiring as chief clerk. Paul also worked on the side at the Texaco Gas Station on Madison Street in Eau Claire. He greatly enjoyed working on customers cars there for many years. Paul was a member of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nHe will always be remembered as a very loving, and caring husband and father who was always willing to help anyone and loved doing it. Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends who knew him.\r\nHe is survived by his two daughters, Shirley and Sharon Barnes of Eau Claire. He also cared greatly for his many nieces, nephews and cousins. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olga; and a brother, Roy.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour and a half prior to services Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.\r\nMemorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54703.\r\n
