Obituary

Paul G. Palmer Sr., age 81, of Eau Claire died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at his home. He was born on April 8, 1921 in Cornell, the son of Fred Arthur and Olga (Paulson) Palmer. Paul married Mary C. Peterson on March 23, 1943 at Camp Crouder, Missouri.\r\nHe entered the U.S. Army Signal Corps in July 1942. He served in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theatre of Operations and was honorably discharged with the rank of Tech-Sergeant in March 1946. Before being sent overseas, Paul attended UCLA for two years.\r\nHe was employed at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. as a microwave technician, retiring in 1985 with over 44 years of service.\r\nHe was a member or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Communication Workers of America, Telephone Pioneers of America, and VFW Post #305.\r\nPaul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending weekends hunting and fishing with family and friends.\r\nSurvivors include his two sons, Paul G. Palmer Jr. of White Bear Lake, MN and David (Becky) Palmer of Eagan, MN; a grandson, Joshua Palmer; two sisters, Grace Giese and Gladys Decker both of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary in 1994; and a sister, Ruth Lee.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\nFamily request memorials be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
