PHILIP "ROCKY" A. ROGSTAD, 68, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on April 16, 1931 in Eau Claire to Oscar and Dorothy (McDonald) Rogstad. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1949. Philip served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on August 28, 1953. On July 4, 1952, he married Mary Anne Downey in Millington, TN. They resided in Eau Claire-Chippewa Falls area. Philip worked over 25 years at NSP until retiring in 1988. \r\nPhilip played fast pitch softball until the age of 50 in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, sometimes playing for three different teams during the season. As his children and grandchildren became members of ball teams, he attended as many of their games as he could to cheer them on. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, washers and cribbage.\r\nHe was a member of VFW Post #305.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Mary Anne; a daughter, Deb Harm(husband, David, children, Elizabeth Bresina, Robyn and Christopher Harm) of Mosinee; a son, Steve Rogstad (wife, Pattie, children Nicole and Shane); a brother, John(wife, Marji); a very special friend, Barbara Wangen; and her children Pam Semingson(husband, Bruce, children, Jackie Semingson and Sara(Ryan)Thurston), Julie Vorpahl(husband, Tom, children, Kelly and Carrie), Lynn Thibedeau(husband, Jim, children, Jacob and Amanda), Paula Olson(husband, Kevin, children, Jamie, Alicia and Jessica) all of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.\r\nHis parents preceded him in death.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
