PHYLLIS E. HALVERSON, 65, of 1412 Whipple St., died Friday, August 29, 1997 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1931 in Colfax, Wisconsin to Clarence and Esther (Fjelstad) Halverson. She attended the Eau Claire schools, graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1950. Phyllis served with the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until her honorable discharge in November 1957. She worked 17 years at Montgomery Ward, and then at Luther Hospital in the medical supplies department from 1975 until her retirement. \r\nPhyllis was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church and American Legion Post #53. She had been a volunteer at Luther Hospital since her retirement. \r\nSurvivors include a brother, Everett (Mavis) Halverson; a niece, Debra (John) Noel; two nephews, Steven (Melissa) and Michael Halverson; several great-nieces and nephews and a special friend, Barbara Fredricksen all of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Don Halverson.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evangel Assembly of God with Pastor Steven L. Brandt officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside rites.Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.\r\nThe Family requests that memorials, please be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
