Phyllis Elaine Myers, 91, of Eau Claire died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was born June 20, 1918, to Ewald and Minnie (Giles) Thalacker in Eau Claire.\r\nPhyllis married Flavius L. Myers on August 7, 1940, at his parent's home in Eau Claire. They were married for 66 wonderful years before he passed away September 3, 2006.\r\nShe established a welcoming home for her friends and family while raising her five children. Phyllis cared for a neighbor girl for over a 10 year period. They developed a very special bond and Phyllis become a second mother to this girl and treated her like a daughter. Phyllis cared for and loved her grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed her crafts - sewing doll clothes, knitting, and crocheting - utilizing them for gift giving and craft sales. An evening ritual that she enjoyed with Flavius was playing Yatzee.\r\nPhyllis was a woman of strength and integrity - a person who was well respected. She made it known that her "yes" was "yes" and her "no" was "no." She had a wealth of knowledge and she used good old common sense. If you went to her with a question, she got straight to the point and provided sound advice. She was loved by her family and friends and she will be sorely missed.\r\nPhyllis is survived by her daughter, Debra (Larry) Berg of Mazomanie; four sons, Gary (Dixie) of Downsville, David (Faye) of Bloomer, Steven (Doreen) of Eau Claire, and Gordon (Kim) of Elk Mound; her child care daughter, Ann (Andrew) Severson Little of Lansdale, PA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; her four brothers, John (Mary Ann), William, Wayne, and Ronald Thalacker; her sisters, Dora Ray, Naurine Harris, Sandra (Jack) Daniels; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Flavius in 2006; her parents; a grandson, Brian Myers; a granddaughter, Carol Myers Spears; daughter-in-law, Cathy Myers; an infant brother, Richard; three brothers, Ewald Jr., Kenneth, Keith; an infant sister, Carol, and a sister, June Biesterveld.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, in the Town of Washington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\n
