Obituary

Raleigh Leonard Cook, 82, of Eau Claire, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Clairemont Nursing Home after a long battle with congestive heart failure. \r\nHe was born in Menomonie, WI on April 19, 1929, a son of Leonard and Matilda (Peckmiller) Cook. He attended some country schools, St. Paul's Lutheran School, and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1948.\r\nRaleigh married Shirley Wagner on August 29, 1959, and together they celebrated over 50 years of marriage and the births of two daughters!\r\nRaleigh worked on the family farm and then Roberts Wholesale. He also worked as a custodian for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for 28 years until his retirement on June 1, 1990. He enjoyed the camaraderie while bowling, playing dartball, and going on hunting trips.\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Shirley of Eau Claire; his daughter, Vicki Lynn (John Pavick) Cook of Altoona; his sister, Bernice (Orlin) Larson of Eau Claire; and also nieces and nephews and friends. \r\nRaleigh was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Rose Cook and his parents. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.\r\n
