Raymond Matthew Skoug, 92, born in the city of Strum, died March 19, 2016 at Dove Health Care West. Ray was born on August 10, 1923 with an identical twin brother, Roger, to Hilda (Semingson) and Oscar Skoug. He spent most of his years living in Eau Claire and graduated from the Eau Claire High School. In 1942 he married Rose Elaine Biesterveld and together they had seven children. After marrying Rose Elaine, he served three years in the Army. Upon his return, he completed a 2-year apprenticeship program at the Vocational School for his chosen occupation of painting and wall papering. His apprenticeship was with Al Nordly. In addition, Ray worked for other contractors in the area throughout his career and also worked at both of the local hospitals. One of Ray's favorite past times was following all sports on TV. In his younger years, he enjoyed attending local sports events in Eau Claire. He loved to read in his later years. Ray is survived by four daughters and two sons: Sandra Lokrantz (friend, Pat Coyle), Mary Jo (Bill) Uecke, Kathleen (Larry) Fitch, Thomas (Susan DuSchane), Timothy (Colleen DesRosier) and Suzanne (Les) Erickson and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Skoug. He has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Ray is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his son, David, one grandson, two great grandsons, one great granddaughter and five siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Parish. The family wishes to thank Dove West Healthcare staff for all their kindness and care of our father. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremations Services, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire, with Father George officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will be at a later date.
