Obituary

Raymond D. Snyder, age 65, of Eau Claire, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on December 22, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Helen (Crocker) Snyder. He grew up there near Lake Minnetonka and at the age of sixteen moved with his family to California.\r\nRaymond served with the U.S. Army and Naval Reserves for many years.He worked as a dry wall taper in California, Washington, Oregon and Minnesota until his retirement in 1986. \r\nHe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and swimming with his family. \r\nSurvivors include his children, Shelley (John) Walek of Cleghorn and Timothy Melton of Minneapolis and their mother, Beverly Woods of Benicia, CA; seven grandchildren, Raymond Snyder of Wheeler, Melissa Westring of Eau Claire, Colleen Westring of Cleghorn, Eric Melton of Minneapolis, Russell Melton of California, Josh and Jada Melton of Minnesota; and four great-grandchildren, Stephan, Tyler, Trent and Riley.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Raymond DuWayne Jr.; and two brothers, George and Terrance Snyder.\r\nMemorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday until time of services at the funeral home. VFW Post #305 will conduct Military Honor Rites.
