Richard "Rich" A. Prissel, Jr., 61, of Bridge Creek Township, WI, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, August 22, 2013, while vacationing in Cape Coral, FL, after a courageous 8 month battle with cancer. Rich was born in Eau Claire, WI, on April 12, 1952, son of Richard and Vi (Matti) Prissel Sr. He graduated from Regis High School with the Class of 1970. Rich was employed by the State of WI Department of Transportation as Sign Coordinator, retiring on December 31, 2008. Rich married Darlene Toftness on March 23, 1974, at Grace Lutheran Church. Together they raised 2 children, Jesse and Jammi. Rich loved hunting, fishing, feeding the birds and enjoying the wildlife at his home. Rich also loved traveling and enjoyed many winter vacations to beautiful, tropical destinations, which lead to his passion of deep sea fishing, He accomplished his lifelong dream to own a sea going vessel, to navigate and fish the Gulf of Mexico. The last four winters were spent fulfilling this dream in Florida. Rich is survived by his loving wife and devoted caregiver, Darlene; son, Jesse (Stacy Thompson); loving daughter, Jammi; three precious grandchildren, Mya, Larz and Payton; his mother, Vi Prissel; and brother, Mark (Pam) Prissel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Prissel, Sr.; cousin and friend, Michael Prissel; and grandparents. Rich was a man of integrity, a man of great faith. It was important for him to share his love for his Lord and Savior and the salvation message. Rich will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. A special thanks to his great, caring friends, Dave and Donna Sobaszkiewicz. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, 123 W. Hamilton Ave. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Rod Larson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
