Richard B. "Dick" Johnson, 80, formerly of Eau Claire died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at his home in Menomonie, WI. He was born on December 6, 1927, the son of Benard and Bess (Fagerlind) Johnson. He attended Eau Claire Senior High School. \r\nDick learned to fly airplanes at very young age. He served in the Civil Air Patrol after World War II, and continued to enjoy flying for many years. He also enjoyed motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson, and was a stock car racing fan.\r\nDick married Carol A. Johnson in Red Wing, MN in 1952.\r\nHe drove bus for Wisconsin Northern Transportation, and then worked as a Route Salesman for Park Ridge Distributing until his retirement.\r\nDick is survived by his two sons, Randy (Sheryl) Johnson and Steven (Lisa) Johnson both of Eau Claire; two daughters, Cindy (Ed) Werner and Laura Thalacker both of Menomonie; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Chad Johnson, Melissa , Adam, and Amanda Thalacker, Jenna (Dan) Brandenburg, and Paul and Kyle Johnson; three step grandchildren, Josh Werner, Aaron and Rachael Wallace; four great grandchildren, Micah and Riley Thalacker, Cameron Johnson, and Kaelynn Brandenburg; two sisters, Joan (Willard) Breden and Norma Heaviland; sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson all of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Wally Johnson of Opelika, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents; a son, Jeffrey Johnson; three sisters, Neva Cunningham, Alice Vincent, and Geraldine Rickey. \r\nFuneral services will be at held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\n
