Obituary

Richard V. Gladwell, 79, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully at home with his family close by with the care of Northwest Homecare Hospice on Saturday June 28, 2003. He was born in the Town of Wheaton on February 29, 1924, the son of Lee and Elva (Wilcox) Gladwell. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1943.\r\nRichard married Julia M. Stagliano in Hernando, Mississippi on March 24, 1951.\r\nHe served with the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict as a Medical Corpsman. Richard worked for the Eau Claire Area School District, retiring in 1986 after 32 years. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Julia; three sons and one daughter, Steve (Debra), Jim (Beverly), both of Eau Claire, Mary Jo (Brian) Mawby of Bloomer and Lee (Natalie) of Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren, Danica (Brent) Johnson, Laura Gladwell, Gina Gladwell, Jessica, Jasmine and Gabriel Mawby and Brittney and Dylan Gladwell; brother-in-law, Jim (Hazel) Stagliano of Kenosha; sister-in-law, Georgie Gladwell of Eau Claire; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Elva; and two brothers, Harold and Robert.\r\nRichard will be sadly missed for his quick wit and sense of humor.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Town of Hallie. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
