Obituary

Richard A. Johnson, age 69, of Eau Claire, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Eau Claire. Richard was born on September 19, 1947, at Luther Hospital, to Arthur Robert Johnson and Joyce Emiller (Gustavson) Johnson. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1965 with Honors. Richard then attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Liberal Arts. In the early 1980's he owned and operated Tom and Jerry's Liquor Store, in Chippewa Falls, for many years. He then worked at Sherwin Williams in Eau Claire from 1991 until his retirement in 2010. Richard traveled the United States with his father. He had many hobbies, including model trains, building model ships and cars, and driving classic cars in parades. He also helped restore the Schlegelmilch-McDaniel House on Farwell St. Richard was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire where he was baptized and confirmed. He had a beautiful voice and sang in both the Boys' Choir and the church choir. Richard is survived by his sisters, MaryAnn (Curt) McMartin of Eau Claire and Barbara Ellen Olson of Chippewa Falls; a niece, Kelly Sue (McInnis) Abraham of Eau Claire; a great-nephew, Kyle James Abraham of Eau Claire; and many cousins in Eau Claire and California. He is preceded in death by his parents. Per Richard's wishes, no formal services will be held. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting his family.
