Richard W. Linn, 86, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. Richard was born on January 19, 1932, to Carl and Velma (Pugh) Linn in West Des Moines, IA. He graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1949. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Northern Iowa in 1953, and a Master's Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, along the DMZ from 1953 until 1955, and started teaching in Eau Claire in 1956, He retired in 1989, after 33 years of service in the Eau Claire Public Schools where he served as teacher, counselor and administrator. Richard met his wife, Norma Elaine Schultz in 1956, when she also was a new teacher in Eau Claire, and they married on June 20, 1959. They have enjoyed many years of traveling. Richard survived by his wife, Norma; son, Bruce (Jenny) Linn of Excelsior, MN; daughter, Jennifer Elaine Linn of Bloomington, MN; granddaughter, Maria (Isaac Evans) Linn-Evans of St. Paul, MN; and a grandson, Jason Linn of Cleveland, OH. He is also survived by one aunt, five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers-in-law. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, WI 54701. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Sarah Semmler Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
