Richard L. Ovren was born in Elk Mound on March 6, 1941, to Roald and Irene (Solberg) Ovren. He died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at Luther Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. Richard married Charleen (Wiseman) on October 24, 1959, in Elk Mound.\r\nHe graduated from Elk Mound High School, attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and was a licensed FIC-LUTCF Insurance Representative, employed by The National Mutual Benefit Insurance Company.\r\nRichard never met a stranger and always found the best in everyone.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Charleen; two daughters, Constance Anderson and her children, Jacob, Gretchen, Gabrielle, and John, all of Durand, and Robin Ovren of Elk Mound; son, Stephen (Denae Bayer) Ovren and his son, Dimitriy of Newport, RI; his mother, Irene; sister, Patricia (Gary) DeMoe, both of Elk Mound; uncle Louis (Alda) Solberg of Menomonie; and many nephews, aunts, and cousins.\r\nRichard was preceded in death by his father, Roald; sister, Kathleen Lamb; two grandchildren, Roald and Anne Ovren; and brother-in-law, Brian R. Wiseman.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005, at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church with Pastor Hal A. Schroetter officiating. Burial will be in Big Elk Creek Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at church.
