Robert L. Davey, 86, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Dallas Care&Rehab in Dallas, WI.\r\nHe was born on January 19, 1923, the son of Edwin and Catherine (Little) Davey in Denver, CO.\r\nBob enlisted in the U.S. Army on Nov. 5, 1940 and served in the U.S. Army working in intelligence and recon until the time of his honorable discharge on Aug. 8, 1945. He was part of the first wave of infantry that hit the beaches at Normandy, fought through the Battle of the Bulge, all the way into Germany. Bob received two bronze stars amongst other medals and ribbons.\r\nHe married Viola M. Sippel on November 6, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire, where they were both longtime members.\r\nBob worked as a machine technician for the U.S. Post Office until his retirement. \r\nHe is survived by his wife, Viola; a son, Thomas (Linda) Davey of Cornell; a daughter, Marie (Donald) Adee of Sheyboygan Falls, WI; two grandsons, Andrew (Laura) Adee of Florida, and Zachary Davey of California; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marie Hall and Ruby Keen; three brothers, Ed, Kenneth and Harry; mother and father in-law, Lewis and Marie Sippel.\r\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by VFW Post #305 will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, September 23, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home. \r\n.\r\n
