Obituary

Robert L. Fenner, 80, of Eau Claire, loving husband and father, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Luther Hospital. He was born in Eau Claire on November 7, 1927, the son of Herrick and Elvina (White) Fenner. \r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 30, 1945, serving during World War II until his honorable discharge on July 22, 1946.\r\nRobert married his high school sweetheart Rose F. Zurek on December 24, 1947, in Eau Claire. She died on February 15, 2000. He then married Sharon "Shari" J. Bauer on November 10, 2001, at Sacred Heart Chapel in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was a firefighter for 32 years with the Eau Claire Fire Department, retiring as a Battalion Chief in 1985. He also worked part-time many years for Kleiner Lumber.\r\nHe was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ.\r\nBob is survived by his wife, Shari; two sons, Michael (Deborah Curley) Fenner of Tucson, AZ, and Brian ( Kris) Fenner of Wisconsin Rapids; three daughters, Cheryl Peterson-Radloff of Phoenix; AZ, Deb (Steve) Miedema of Prescott, AZ and Jacki (Scott) Drier of Durand, WI; eleven grandchildren, Shannon, Jordan (Kim), Clinton (Christine), and Courtney Fenner, Kristeen Rose (Gerald) Piper, Todd Burrows, Chad, Brady and Austin Drier, Sara and Cassandra Miedema; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Morgan Rose Marie and Madison Piper, and Evelyn Georgia Fenner; four brothers-in-law, Ed Huse, Tom (Bev) Risler, Don (Veronica) Risler and Dick (Sherry) Risler; sister-in-law, Judy (Ken) Bignell; many nieces including his God-daughter Jodi (Joe Brummond) Huse, nephews, and cousins.\r\nHe was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra Huse; brother and sister-in-law Ron and Janice Fenner; daughter-in-law, Georgia Fenner; son-in-law, Brad Peterson; and grandson, Craig Burrows. \r\nBob had a true passion for life. He enjoyed being active with family and friends. He loved fishing, golfing, and taking daily walks with his best friend Shari. Bob's family was everything to him, and he always looked forward to family gatherings.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Eau Claire, with the Rev. David Huber officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire, where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.\r\nHis family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone who touched Bob's life. A special thanks to the staff at Luther Hospital 4th floor, and friends, family and loved ones involved in Bob's final journey to heaven.... Bob's family will be forever grateful for everyone's loving compassion. Bob is now smiling down on us all, and wishing us a "Beautiful Day."\r\n
