ROBERT A. "BOB" HAYS, 49, of 2830 W. Wellington Dr., died Saturday, December 14, 1996 at the Clairemont after a courageous four year battle with a brain tumor. He was born September 5, 1947 in Eau Claire to Verner and Julia (Haugen) Hays. Bob graduated from Altoona Senior High School with the class of 1966. He entered the U.S. Army in 1966, served in the Vietnam War and was honorable discharged in 1971. He married Jeannine M. "Jeanne" Liddell in Eau Claire on July 10, 1976. Bob worked at Max Phillips and Sons for 32 years.He was a member of Christ Church Cathedral-Episcopal where he taught Sunday School.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, April and Kelly both at home; his mother, Julia Hays of Eau Claire; two brothers, Duane(Debbie) of Cottage Grove,MN, and Richard(Sheri) of Rockford,IL; three sisters, Joyce Brown of Rockford,IL, Gloria(Bob)Valska of Rolla,Mo, and Delores(Elder)Bethke of Madison; two brother-in-laws, Kenneth(Lisa)Liddell of Maplewood,MN, and Tom(Brenda)Liddell of Chippewa Falls; two sister-in-laws, Linda(Steve)Bluem of Eau Claire and Patricia(Brad)Bowen of Chippewa Falls; father-in-law, Ted Liddell of Altoona; many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by a son, Timothy in 1978; his father; and mother-in-law, Lucille Liddell.\r\nBob was a loving father and devoted husband who enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, making things with his girls, planting his garden and reading..\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday at Christ Church Cathedral-Episcopal with The Very Rev. H. Scott Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Monday (Today) at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and 10:15 until time of services Tuesday at the church.
