ROBERT H. LIESKE, 84, of 520 Congress St., died Wednesday, January 13, 1999 at Luther Hospital. He was born April 24, 1914 in Eau Claire to William and Mary (Sack) Lieske. He grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelors in chemistry in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1943. Robert married Ardis Ayers in March of 1943 in Milwaukee. He taught school for a time in Ketchikan, Alaska and then worked as paint chemist, while living in Washington and California until his retirement in 1968. During retirement Robert also resided in South Carolina and Florida, until moving back to Eau Claire in 1997. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping, fishing and golf.\r\nSurvivors include a son, William (Cissy) Carlson of Peoria, IL; a daughter, Roberta K. Carlson of Carmel Valley, CA; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Carlson of Hollywood, CA, and Julie Carlson of New York, NY; two sisters-in-law, Marian Lieske of Orlando, FL, and Leona Lieske of Minnetonka, MN; many nieces and nephews including a nephew, Richard (Joan) Johnson of Eau Claire; and a cousin, Edith Anderson of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by three brothers, Donny, Clarence and William; and two sisters, Ruth Johnson and Lillian Shiels.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Fehr officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. Friday until time of services at the funeral home.
