Robert "Bob" M. Severson, 84, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Orchard Hills Assisted Living, Eau Claire, after a 9 year battle with multiple myeloma. Bob was born on June 4, 1932 to Melvin and Margaret (Rossow) Severson in the home that he resided in for the majority of his life. Bob graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1950, and attended UW-River Falls School of Agriculture. He farmed on the family farm for his entire life. Bob was active in the community. He served on the Town of Union Board as a Supervisor, Board Member of Eau Claire Co Op Oil, a volunteer at the Union Township Fire Department, and a Charter member of the Westgate Sportsman's Club. Bob was a member of the Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408. He was active in Eau Claire County 4-H and FFA as a youth served as Livestock Superintendant of the EC County Jr Fair as an adult. Bowling was Bob's favorite hobby and social activity; he enjoyed many years of league bowling and made many lifelong friends. Bob is survived by his siblings Shirley Hoffman, Mary Kinderman, Patricia (William) Jensen, and James F. (Karen) Severson; 14 nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Robert Hoffman and Kenneth Kinderman; and infant great niece Lily Severson. Services for Bob will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the WEST CHAPEL location at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1405 W. Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, with Rev. David Stratton officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, Dove Healthcare, and Orchard Hills Assisted Living for the care and compassion they provided for Bob.
