Robert "Bob" Jerome Metzgar, 72, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Thunderbird Hospital in Peoria, AZ, with his loving wife, Karen, at his side. He had been visiting his 100 year old mother, Marian in Arizona. Over the past year, cancer had claimed his health but not his spirit.\r\nBob was born in Clyde, Ohio on December 22, 1937, the only child of Forest and Marian (Taylor) Metzgar. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. Bob attended the Clyde Public Schools and was active in track, football and baseball. He graduated from the Ohio State University receiving a Business Marketing Degree. \r\nBob married Joyce Graham in 1957 in Ohio. They had two children, Corbin J. and Stacy Lynn Metzgar. After a brief time in Minneapolis, they moved to Eau Claire, where Bob was employed by the Northern States Power Utility (Xcel). Managerial positions lead him to Amery and Ashland, WI. He returned to Eau Claire and retired in 1997 as head of Economic Development.\r\nBob was active in Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, and had other civic interests. \r\nBob married Karen Anderson on May 11, 1996 in Eau Claire. They built a home on Eagle Lake near Iron River where they enjoyed 10 years with numerous friends. In 1997, they moved to a condo in Eau Claire and renewed former friendships. During their retirement, they wintered in Arizona enjoying golf, travel, family and friends. \r\nBob loved nature and from his youth on had a passion for hunting, fishing and golf. He was known to his friends as an excellent host. They repeatedly heard the stories of his hunting dogs, the last being Molly.\r\nBob is survived by his mother, Marian of Peoria, AZ; wife, Karen; son, Corbin (Maria Stoll) Metzgar of Eau Claire; three step-children, Eric (Chris) Anderson of Eden Prairie, MN, Kari (Paul) Adams of Las Vegas, NV, and Michael (Kara) Anderson of Minnetonka, MN; four grandchildren, Ari, Ellis, Avery, and Nora; along with many dear friends.\r\nBob knew losses, his father (when Bob was 11 years old); wife, Joyce; and daughter, Stacy.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E.
