Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" J. MOORES, 77, of 3146 Midway St., died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Luther Hospital. He was born January 31, 1921 to John and Margaret (Berthold) Moores in Eau Claire. Bob graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1938. He served in the U.S. Army European-African Theater during W.W.II from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. Bob married Joan L. Burgess at Grace Lutheran Church on July 20, 1947, and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in July of 1997. He was employed by the Eau Claire Board of Education as a custodian at North High School for 25 years, retiring in March of 1984.\r\nBob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he participated in the men's 3's group, Friendship Club and Bible Study groups. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1408, the Pine Meadow "Monday Evening Swingers" Golf Club, and the "Old Goats".\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Joan; a son, Steven (Cindy) of Eau Claire; two granddaughters, Kristie (Aryan), and Tracy, both of Eau Claire; a great-grandson, Teagan; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Moores; a brother-in-law, James Hobart; and several nieces and nephews, including David (Pam) Moores of Westminster, CO., and Barbara (Steve) Zemple of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Virginia Hobart; and a brother, James Moores.\r\nHe enjoyed the simple family life, working in his yard, his many friends, and they enjoyed his witty brand of humor.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Howard Fehr officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.\r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.\r\nBob, Dad, Grandpa, we love you. You will be missed.
