Robert "Bud" S. Osterhus, 84, of Eau Claire, died on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital. \r\nRobert was born in Eau Claire on November 9, 1924, the son of Alvin and Hulda (Carlson) Osterhus. Following Robert's birth, Alvin died suddenly and he was then lovingly raised by his mother Hulda, and step-father, Alvin Nerison. \r\nHe graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1942. Robert served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Corps as a navigator during World War II. He continued serving his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was reactivated in 1962. He retired from active reserves as a Major following the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1963. \r\nHe married Avyril M. Peterson on August 11, 1948, in Eau Claire.\r\nRobert graduated from University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire in 1950 and went on to obtain his Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities graduating in 1960.\r\nHe worked at Eau Claire High School and Eau Claire Memorial as a mathematics instructor for over 40 years. \r\nRobert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; Past-President of the Eau Claire Teachers Union. He served on the Marshfield Clinic Board of Directors, and The Reserve Officers Association (TROA). He was a central part of the restoration project of the Waldemar Ager Home for the past many years. Robert was an active supporter of the Democratic Party.\r\nRobert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Avyril; a son, Paul (Cindy) of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Ann (Dennis) Osterhus of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Jane (Ralph) Saunders of London, UK; grandson, Hamed Robert Firouzi of Minneapolis, MN; an aunt, Helen Nichols of Janesville, WI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vernett and Kathy Peterson of Eau Claire; two nephews; one niece; and seven grand nephews and nieces. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and step-father.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services, Tuesday, at church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\nMemorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W.
