Obituary

Robert "Bob" P. Bauer, age 93, of Eau Claire, WI, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Care Partners Assisted Living in Altoona, WI, with his family by his side. Bob was born on August 14, 1923, in Faribault, MN, to Robert J. and Mary E. (LaCroix) Bauer. Bob was a graduate from St. Patrick's Catholic School in Eau Claire and following, enlisted in the US Army serving in the 349 Airborne Battalion anti-aircraft division, traveling the world. On September 27, 1947, he married Marian Anderson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and together they spent 69 ½ years as husband and wife. He worked for Uniroyal Tire Co. of Eau Claire his entire life. Bob was also a school crossing guard for the Eau Claire school district for many years. Bob was a very generous man and would help all who had need. He enjoyed people and they in turn enjoyed Bob. Some of Bob's interests included woodworking, plumbing, electrical; basically, "a jack of all trades." Bob loved camping with his family and going to Jellystone Park in Warrens, WI. A bonfire was always a must. If the weather turned "nasty" or cold, he made sure to tend the campfire until it was out. Having bought a boat, Bob taught his children to waterski as well as any other camper that wished to learn. He got in the boat in the morning and would pull skiers all day long, and loved every minute of it. Bob had a great sense of humor and had the "gift of gab." He loved his ice cream and chocolate. Bob's most important part of his life, was his family. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob's wife, Marian, was the center of his life. Bob's quote a few days before he passed was, "I have no regrets in my life." Bob is survived by his wife, Marian of Eau Claire; three daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Golden of Chicago, IL, Karlene (Jeff) Lorentz of Eau Claire and Debbie (Rod) Brott of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Chad (Wendy) Lorentz, Staci (Tony) Crotteau, Nikki (Steve) Nelson, Jaime (Charlie) Hebert and Chris (Ashley) Brott; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis and Kara Crotteau, Siena and Ellie Lorentz, Caden and Emily Nelson, Abby and Charlie Hebert and Bentley Brott; nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Bauer; father and mother-in-law, Arthur L. and Margaret Anderson; brother-in-law, Arthur, Jr. and one nephew; Bob did not want anyone to be sad when he passed. His service will be with smiles, laughter, memories and love. "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." A Celebration of a Life Well Lived will take place on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Spirit Lutheran, 1310 Main St, Eau Claire, WI, with Pastor Roger Benrud officiating.
