Robert L. "Bob" Wheeler, 93, of Eau Claire, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his home at Heritage Senior Living. Bob was born in Dunn County on October 29, 1930, to Frank and Emelia (Brettingen) Wheeler. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from April 12, 1951 to April 11, 1955. On January 26, 1960, Bob married Norma Grams at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. E. M. Hegge officiating. Bob and Norma had one son, Daniel (1960-2021). After marrying, Bob and Norma moved to Helena, MT, until 1962, when they moved to Minneapolis and lived for four years. They also lived in Wausau, Wisconsin before settling back in Eau Claire in 1968. After Bob left the Air Force, he became a Federal Bank Examiner and traveled throughout several states examining banks. Bob later became a banker working at several local banks in Eau Claire. Bob was a devoted husband and father. He was very proud of his military service.

Bob is survived by his sister-in-law, Marvel Wheeler of Lakeville, MN, nieces and nephews, Kent (Wally) Wheeler, Amy Benedict, both of Eau Claire, Paula Sparling of Apple Valley, MN, Mike Wheeler of Chippewa Falls, Marsha Betz of Deephaven, MN, Michelle Herman of Devils Lake, ND, Merri Johnson of Shoreview, MN and Mark Wheeler of Warrenburg, Mo., and many great nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Norma in 2013, his son, Daniel in 2021, his brother, Manley Wheeler in 2020, his brother, Wallace "Wally" Wheeler in 2013, and sister-in-law Jean Wheeler in 2014, infant sister, Luella, and sister, Ethel Skrogstad.

A funeral service for Bob is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Irgens officiating at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 3735 Jeffers Road, Eau Claire, WI 54703. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at The Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
