Robert W. Wickham, 89, of Eau Claire died Friday, January 20, 2006, at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. He was born in Marshall, Minnesota on July 5, 1916, the son of Harry and Maude (Simmon) Wickham.\r\nRobert married Virginia L Leipnitz in Nashua, Iowa on December 30, 1938.\r\nDuring World War II, he served in the Seabees, the U.S. Naval Construction Force.\r\nHe worked 30 years as a tire builder at Uniroyal until his retirement in 1975.Following his retirement, Robert and Virginia spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ.\r\nIn his younger years Robert enjoyed motorcycling with Virginia on their sidecar Harley. His family remembers their many camping trips together, and in later years he became an avid golfer.\r\nRobert is survived by his wife, Virginia; five children, Sandra (LeRoy) Poppe of St. Paul, MN, James (Yevetta) of Caldwell, OH, Janice Bluedorn of Altoona, Steven (Carol) of Kalispell, MT, and Becki Sanders of New England, ND; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; grandson, Brian Bluedorn; two brothers, Merle and Gordon; and his sister, Margurite.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior or services Wednesday at the church chapel. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\n
