Rodney "Rod" K. Sather, 59, of Northfield, MN, and formerly of Eau Claire, WI died unexpectedly on Friday, February 29, 2008, at his home. \r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on October 13, 1948, to Delos and Norma (Newton) Sather. Rod was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He attended and graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1967.\r\nIn 1967, Rod joined the U.S. Navy and served in the states as well as overseas, receiving his honorable discharge in 1973.\r\nRod married Cindi Ruhe on January 25, 1969. They lived in various places from the west coast to the east coast while raising two beautiful daughters before divorcing after 33 years.\r\nRod worked in the computer industry from 1973 to 1996 for various companies, but spent most of those years working for Cray Research. In 1996 he decided to fulfill his passion for cooking by buying and running Diamond Daves Restaurant, recently renamed the Fieldhouse Sports Bar&Grill, in Northfield MN.\r\nRod enjoyed golfing, fishing (especially landing those big muskies in the North Country of WI), cooking and spending time with his six wonderful grandchildren.\r\nRodney is survived by his two daughters, Tina (Jason) Lemke of Northfield, MN and Lisa (Eric) Williams of Farmington, MN; his parents Delos and Norma Sather of Altoona; two sisters, Jean Joseph of Eau Claire, Julie (Mike) Jackelen of Eleva; six grandchildren, Erin, Jamie, Tyler, Braden, Andrew and Logan; several nieces and nephews; and by many friends. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor John Kerr officiating. Private burial with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #53 will be Friday, March 7 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at church.\r\nLenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
