Obituary

Roger L. Buxton, 67, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, January 3, 2002 at Luther Hospital. He was born August 10, 1934 in Eau Claire to LeRoy and Mabel (Heimstadt) Buxton.\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Army on Nov. 11, 1956, serving as a paratrooper. He also served as a guard at Little Rock, Arkansas. He was later called back into service during the Berlin crisis and was honorably discharged on Aug. 19, 1958 \r\nRoger married Yvonne Sather on May 31, 1958 in Eau Claire at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He retired from Uniroyal Tire Company.\r\nHe was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman. Roger was active in dartball and bowling leagues. He was a jack of all trades with his masonry work and carpenter skills. He built his cabin in Eleva, which brought him much enjoyment. \r\nHe was a member of Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408 Survivors include his wife Yvonne; a son Daniel (Kim) of Savage, Minn.; a daughter, Valorie (Jay) Britten of Chippewa Falls; four granddaughters, Lauren and Miranda Buxton and Courtney and Caitlyn Britten who brought him special joy; brother, Larry (Sigrid) of Eau Claire; nephews, John Buxton and Mark Buxton both of Eau Claire and many cousins and friends. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Everett.\r\nServices will be at 1 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2002 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in East Bennett Valley Cemetery, near Eleva. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one half hour prior to services Monday at the church.
