Roger V. Palms, 85, of Eau Claire died Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Luther Hospital. He was born January 30, 1920, in Barron, Wisconsin, the son of Vernon and Mabel (Russell) Palms.\r\nRoger's family moved to Duluth where he went to school in French River and graduated from Clover Valley High School.\r\nRoger served in the Merchant Marine service during World War II. He later worked on ships going to South America and on Lake Superior. He could tell many stories of his experiences at sea. Roger was proud of serving his country and shared his money with disabled veterans and Indian schools.\r\nSurvivors include his sister, Marion Holt, and a nephew, Matt B. Holt, both of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Harry O. Holt.\r\nNo funeral services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services.\r\n \r\n
