Obituary

Roger E. Washburn "Gramps", 60, of Eau Claire, WI, died Friday, October 09, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his wife and loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.\r\nHe was born on September 18, 1949 in Eau Claire, a son of Donald and Jean Washburn.\r\nRoger worked for Presto Industries. He then worked as a Building Supervisor for the city of Eau Claire, where he made many lifelong friends. Roger then retired on March 5, 2007\r\nHe married Cynthia Lyons on May 4, 1968 in Eau Claire. They shared 42 years of being happily married.\r\nRoger was an avid dirt track racing fan, and also enjoyed NASCAR. Every Friday night you could find him at Red Cedar Race Track in Menomonie. Most of all, he enjoyed taking his grandsons on trips, fishing, camping, and also spending time with his family.\r\nRoger is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; two daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Huebner and Lynn Washburn, both of Eau Claire; grandsons, Austin Huebner and Logan Zawistowski; six sisters, Karen (Pete) Fletty of Colorado, Mary (Gary) Simmons of Chippewa Falls, Gloria (Steve) Sanasac of Marshfield, Marlene (Doug) Olson of Eau Claire, Kathy Copeland of Eau Claire, Theresa Cecchini of Eau Claire; four brothers, Denny of Eau Claire, Terry (Sheri) of Aurora, CO, Mark of Eau Claire, and Ricky (Lois) of North Branch, MN; and many great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and special friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nFuneral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St., Eau Claire, with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 12, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at church.\r\nTo express condolences online, please visit obituaries at www.lenmarkfh.com.
