Leonauskas,\r\nage 76 of Eau Claire, passed away on July 13, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health\r\nSystem in Eau Claire. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRaymond was born on June 21, 1935,\r\nin Klaipeda, Lithuania to Justinas and Barbara (Stankute) Leonauskas. In\r\n1951 his family, including his parents and his younger brother Alan, were\r\nsponsored by an American family to start a new life in the U.S. They settled in\r\nChicago, IL where he met, and in 1958 married, his true love Elvira\r\n(Miko). There they began a family which included 4 children: Barbara\r\n(Satterfield), Raymond Jr., Karen (Briggs) and John. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThroughout his life he enjoyed his\r\nwork as a salesman and thrived at it, eventually owning his own business. In\r\naddition to the challenges of his business Raymond enjoyed the many friendships\r\nthat it brought him over the years. He loved fishing and woodworking, coaching\r\nhis children's sports teams, socializing with his and his wife's friends,\r\nattending his grandchildren's activities, playing computer games and watching\r\nsci-fi; but mostly he loved spending time with his best friend, his wife. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRaymond was a loving father who was\r\nalways involved in his children's lives and a doting husband who would gladly\r\nmove heaven and earth for his wife. He was charming and funny, loved\r\nclassic country music and would often sing a jingle from a favorite song or\r\nmake up his own to everyone's delight. To his family he was a teacher of\r\nlove and compassion, of great strength and determination, of simple humor and\r\nfun. His smile and bright eyes could lift up the room and that and\r\nhis genuine good spirit gained him the adoration of the many new people he met\r\nthroughout his life and especially during his final months.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn the past 10 years, he survived\r\ncancer and two heart surgeries and over the last few months endured continual\r\ncomplications from aplastic anemia, which eventually took his life. He\r\nhandled all of his treatments with bravery, without any complaint and still\r\nwith humor until his last day and for that, he will forever be admired and\r\nloved. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRaymond is survived by his wife,\r\ntheir four children and respective spouses, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild\r\nand brother.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nA memorial service and burial is\r\nbeing planned at the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Justice, IL at a later\r\ndate.
