Ronald M. Christianson, 81, of Eau Claire, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Ronald was born in Eau Claire on December 24, 1929, a son to Melvin and Catherine (Haas) Christianson. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1947. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Steinmetz on October 22, 1955, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, WI. Ron worked for Uniroyal as a design draftsman and process equipment engineer for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, camping and taking rides in the car. He spent many countless hours working on various projects of woodworking and metalworking in his workshop. Ron had a unique sense of humor, and was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Ronald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy of Eau Claire; his son, Jeff (Kate) Christianson of Apple Valley, MN; granddaughters, Lauren Christianson and Michelle (Phil) Phan; great-granddaughters, Gabrielle and Julianne Phan; sisters, Lois Whitted and Janet Gunderson both of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Albert (Marion) Steinmetz of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law, Marjorie Barringer of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Byron Whitted, Ben Gunderson, and Bill Barringer; and sisters-in-law, Carol Groves and Lucille Hansen. Funeral Services for Ron will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Reverend Doctor Mark X. Pirazinni officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 1st Ave., Eau Claire and also one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Our family would like to extend a thank you to Northwest Home Care and Hospice and Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire for their care and compassion for Ron and our family.
