Ronald G. Kohnke, 79, of Menomonie and formerly of Elk Mound, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1930, in Eau Claire, the son of Ewald and Dorothy (Horel) Kohnke.\r\nHe graduated from Elk Mound High School with the class of 1948.\r\nRon married Donna M. Bell on April 7, 1951, at Barum Lutheran Church in Elk Mound.\r\nHe farmed in Elk Mound until 1991. He then worked as a volunteer at Interfaith Food Pantry in Menomonie.\r\nHe was a member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound.\r\nRon is survived by his son, Bill (Janice) Kohnke of Elk Mound; daughter, Deborah (Marshel Jr.) Parizo of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Suzanne (Jake) Emberson, Anthony Kohnke, Stephanie Thompson, Brett (Jennifer) Kohnke, and Kelsey (Andrew Wolf) Parizo; his sister, Delores Sperstad; eight great-grandchildren; special friend, Elaine Mahnke; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; and a son, Robert. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound with Pastor Michael Wollman officiating. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Elk Mound Township. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the start of the service Friday at the church.
