Ronald E. Phillips, 71, of Eau Claire died Monday, April 5, 2010, at his home.\r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on September 1, 1938, a son of Carl and Thelma (Hoff) Phillips. \r\nRon married Ruby A. Rosenthal of Chippewa Falls on January 21, 1961, in Chippewa Falls.\r\nHe was employed at Plainwell Tissue for 34 years, retiring in 2000.\r\nRon was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and L.E. Phillips Senior Center. He loved camping, fishing, telling jokes and stories, and enjoyed his hobby of jewelry making.\r\nRon is survived by his wife, Ruby; son, Kevin (Jean) Phillips of Eau Claire; daughter, Kimarie (Daniel) Marsolek of Wausau; five grandchildren, Lori (Joe) Vydrzal, Lindsey (Peter) Galligan, Katelyn Phillips and her friend Josh Lower, and Kaylea and Dannah Marsolek; two aunts; cousins and friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall St., Eau Claire, WI, with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington at a later date.
