Ronald K. Wingad, age 82 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Lake Hallie Memory Care. He was born on January 30, 1932, to Rex and Gladys (O'Dell) Wingad in Eau Claire, WI. Ron attended schools in Eau Claire and graduated in 1950. He was an Eagle Scout, played basketball and played trombone in the band. He had a private pilot's license for many years and belonged to the Civil Air Patrol. Ron was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. He played the organ and sang karaoke, his favorite song "My Way." He also played the polka cello. He was a salesman for Eau Claire Liquor Co as well as a salesman and sales manager at Gateco Liquor for over 45 years. Ron and Karen have spent the last 45 years in the summer at Cornell Lake. For the last 23 years, they have lived on the Chippewa River. He loved to be on the pontoon and hanging out on the island with a bunch of great friends. He loved his home and marveled at the log interior and the fireplace. Ron is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Mike Wingad, Shelly Wingad, Brian (Julie) Wingad, Mark (Sandra) Wingad, and Roger (Diane) Chartier; daughters, Rhonda (Randy) Stromback, Julie Wingad, and Diane (Don) Hagedorn; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jeff Wingad; sister-in-law, Liz Wingad; along with many nieces, nephew and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father, Rex Wingad; mother, Gladys House; sons, Bruce Wingad, Daniel Wingad and Kevin Chartier; brother, Gordy; and sisters, Bonnie, Sharon and Ellen. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe Street, Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Father Felix Tigoy will be officiating. Interment will be at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Hallie Memory Care.
