Roy "Heinie" Hendrickson, 89, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Oak Gardens Assisted Living in Altoona, WI. Roy was born to Mathew and Nellie (Nordby) Hendrickson on August 15, 1923, in Eau Claire. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1941, and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He proudly served his country in World War II until he was honorably discharged in 1945. Upon his return from the service, Roy met the love of his life, Rita Caldwell, and they were married on October 1, 1949. He owned a Canteen Vending Franchise in Eau Claire and Badger Bait Supply Company. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, loved to fish and enjoyed singing in his barbershop quartet and choir. Roy is survived by his wife, Rita Hendrickson; his four children, Susan (Stan) Ruff of Eugene, OR, Jeanne Wick of Sartell, MN, Dan Hendrickson of Eau Claire, WI, and John Hendrickson of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his dog, Sammi. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church1314 E. Lexington Blvd. in Eau Claire with Pastor Brahm Semmler Smith officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #53. The family has requested memorials be sent to "Cure Alzheimer's Fund" (curealz.org).
