Ruby M. Jermstad, 95, of Eau Claire, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Ruby was born on September 14, 1920 to Lewis and Mary (Person) Jermstad in Garfield, WI. She graduated in 1938 from Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo, WI. She continued her education and graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She later received her Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Nursing in 1957 from the University of Minnesota. She enlisted into the U.S. Army Nurse Corps on April 12, 1945 and was stationed at Chanute Field, IL until she was discharged on July 8, 1946. She was an RN for 42 years in Hospitals and a School Nurse in Brainerd, MN. Ruby was active in Luther Alumni, church activities, and enjoyed sewing quilts for the church. She also volunteered at Luther Hospital. Ruby enjoyed bowling, golfing, card playing, water jogging, time on her computer and was an avid reader. Ruby especially enjoyed spending time with her special friends at the Good Shepherd Senior Apartments. Ruby is survived by her nieces and nephews, Robert (Elinore) Hageness, Barbara Larson, Gordon Jermstad, Sharon (Archie Sanrope) Jermstad, Rachel (William) Doyle, Mary Kolberg, Kathy (Blaine) Johnson, Paula Wozniak, and Sandra (Barry) Kailhofer; and great-nieces and nephews. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Blanche (Harry) Hageness, Alice (Ralph) Berndt; brothers, Philip (Thelma) Jermstad, Lee Jermstad; and nephews-in law, Orlin Larson and John Wozniak. Services for Ruby will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Bertelsen Hall at the Good Shepherd Senior Apartments, 3304 14th St, Eau Claire, WI 54703, with Pastor Mike Wollman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Bertelsen Hall. Burial will follow services at 4pm in the Osseo Cemetery . Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Eau Claire, is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Clinic and Hospital, Dr. Jean Anderson and the Visiting Angels for the care they provided for Ruby.
