Obituary

RUSSELL D. "BLACK BULL" BULLARD, 57, of 97B Mall Drive, Altoona, died Saturday, August 5, 2000 at his residence. He was born on September 11, 1942 in Eau Claire to Jack and Jeannette (Smith) Bullard. Russ grew up in Chippewa Falls where he attended Chippewa Falls High School. During his teenage years he worked at Chippewa Motor Freight helping his father, and with his family showed Quarter Horses at the state fairs.. \r\nHe married Sandra Bunch in January of 1961. He then later married Annette L. Talmage-Grassnickle in Watertown, SD, on December 20, 1974. \r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 30, 1961 and was honorably discharged on January 29, 1965. During the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, he served with a support unit in the Caribbean. \r\nHe worked heavy construction as a member of Local 317 for 24 years. Russ and Annette owned and operated R.D.B. Hauling.\r\nHe enjoyed his CB's, and participating with his family four wheeling, hunting, fishing and camping..\r\nSurvivors include his wife, companion and friend, Annette; daughter, Robyn Bullard of Altoona, four sons, Rodney, Barry, Gary and Kevin Bullard; three step children, Lori (Kelly) Westaby of Menomonie, James Grassnickle of Scottsdale, AZ, and Sheila (C. David) Beauchamp of Chippewa Falls; sister, Janet "Susie" (Robert) Janowski of Quincy, CA; eleven grandchildren; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Donna Talmage of Eau Claire; his four wheeler buddies, Mark Hicks and Richard Stowell; his special girls, TeAmo, Sadie and Gizzy.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nMemorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with The Very Rev. H. Scott Kirby officiating. Friends may call 3 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. As was Russ's wish, his ashes will be buried at sea.
