Obituary

Russell G. Kern, 80, of 3325 East Meadow Place, Eau Claire died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Syverson Lutheran Home.\r\nHe was born in Rusk Co. on June 1, 1922 the son of Homer and Mable (Johnson) Kern. \r\nRussell married Theresa A. Anibas on June 25, 1943 at the U.S. Airforce base at Chanute Field, Illinois\r\nHe served in China during World War II having enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on October 31 1942. Russell was honorably discharged on January 9, 1946 have been awarded an American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Distinguished Unit Badge Victory Medal. \r\nHe worked as a bulk plant manager for Texaco Oil Company in Eau Claire, retiring in 1977. \r\nSurvivors include his wife Theresa; a brother, James Kern of Rice Lake; two sisters, Beverly (Lowell) Baldwin of Minneapolis and Donna (Fred) Gommow of Rockford, IL; three sisters-in-law, Lois (Gerald) Ellenberger of Eagle River, Irene (Dick) Wilson of Eau Claire and Janet Anibas of Altoona; two brothers-in-law, Andrew (Dorothy) Anibas of Eau Claire and Ronald (Nancy) Anibas of Chippewa Falls; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Keith and Francis.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2002 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests that memorials please be directed to St. Joseph's Hospice Program, Syverson Lutheran Home or to the American Cancer Society.
