RUSSELL G. WHITESIDE, 80, of 3242 3rd St., passed away Tuesday, July 28, 1998 at his home. He was born March 31, 1918 in Eau Claire to Earl and Myra (Palmer) Whiteside. Russell married Gertrude B. Risler on October 25, 1941 in Eau Claire. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II with the 102nd Evacuation Hospital Unit in the European Theater and was honorably discharged in 1945. He operated Whiteside Builders as a new home builder and remodeling contractor which first began as a partnership with his father.\r\nSurvivors include his wife of 56 years, Gertrude; a son, David (Marilyn) of Pueblo,CO; a daughter, Lorraine (Gene) Wood of Phoenix,AZ; seven grandchildren, Carter, Timothy, Rob, Anthony, Andrew, Arlene and Angela; three great-grandchildren, Raymond, Katie and Cassandra; a sister, Dorothy Hentz of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nRussell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wesley.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth J. Oman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services on Friday.\r\nHis family requests that memorials be directed to World Vision, P.O.
