Ruth M. Blake, 77, of Eau Claire, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire Hospital She was born on June 9, 1936, in Eau Claire, to Carl and Edna (Jackson) Erickson. Ruth attended and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High with the class of 1954. While working at Mason Shoe, Ruth met Donald Blake at Falls Bowl, she was the cute one at the end of the bar. They were married on March 10, 1962, at Truax Congregational Church in Eau Claire. Ruth and Don moved to the Twin Cities area but returned to Eau Claire in 1972 and built a home and started a family. Ruth devoted her time to taking care of her family and also provided in-home child care to other children. Ruth enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, Wii bowling, going out to eat with family and friends, supporting her grandchildren at various events and never missed an opportunity to send a greeting card. She was an adoring wife, loving mother, doting grandma, special sister and wonderful friend to all who knew her. She will be truly missed. Ruth is survived by her husband of 52 years, Don; son, Michael (Kelly) of Eau Claire, four grandchildren, William, Benjamin, Matthew, and Jackson Blake; sister, Linda (Jim) Ross of Holcombe; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son, Michael Scott. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 10, 2014 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, 531 E. South Ave. in Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Jim Woldhuis officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
