Obituary

Ruth W. Fasching-Schwahn, 84, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Wissota Health Center, Chippewa Falls. She was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin on February 9, 1924, the daughter of Henry and Inga (Larson) Larson.\r\nRuth married John "Jack" W. Fasching Jr. on April 23, 1948, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altoona. Jack died in 1999. Ruth married Louis W. Schwahn on February 21, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was employed by Eau Claire County Department of Human Services, retiring in 1988. Ruth spent her retirement years working as a volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital and also helping her family and friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.\r\nRuth enjoyed the company of her cats, who were also part of her family. Watching the wildlife in her backyard was one of her favorite pastimes.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Louis of Chippewa Falls; three sons, Tim Fasching of Fort Collins, CO, Stephen (Jill) Fasching of Stevens Point, and Peter (Sue) Fasching of Eau Claire; her daughter, Patricia Fasching Thwaits of Wausau; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Nick, Alex, Kris, Brittany, Meggan, Alison, Ben, and Ana; a great-grandson, Nolan; a sister-in-law, Clarice Larson; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack; two sisters, Evelyn Switzer and Dora Burce; and by a brother, Robert Larson.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 1p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Eugene Klink celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to Mass at church. A public vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. \r\n
