Sandra L. Kaplar, 62, of Altoona died at home on August 21, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. Sandi was born in Eau Claire on February 4, 1943, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Berg) Olson. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1961. In 1965 she married Robert Kaplar and had two children. They divorced in 1973. Sandi worked as an office associate in the Eau Claire County Extension Office from September, 1974 until her retirement in January, 2002. She enjoyed spending time with her family, get-togethers with friends, former co-workers, cousins, the many hours of cribbage that she played with her sister Tammy, and especially looked forward to her monthly lunch with former classmates. She is survived by her loving children, Bobbie (Jim) Bruett, and Rob Kaplar (Tawni Harper and son, Dylan), both of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Matthew, Marissa, Miranda, and Julia; and two sisters, Tamara (Bob) Bergman of Mora, Minnesota, and Marlene (Phillip) Stevens of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.She was especially loved by her grandchildren, Matthew and Marissa, and enjoyed spending time with them.Sandi was preceded in death by her parents.Her family wishes to thank Northwest Homecare Hospice for their special care during her illness.Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Oliver Schultz officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral&Cremation Services is assisting the family.
